Hello,
I'm curious of any OS X leopard inkscape users have all effects in the "Effects" menu of inscape 0.46 working (I'm particularly interested in the "TeX Text" option)? I don't and am wondering if this is a general problem for all OS X leopard users or if it is a problem with my system.
I've installed inkscape 0.46 compiled for OS X leopard (intel) on my macbook pro. It seems quite functional with the exception of "Effects."
When I try an Effect (like Effects -> Render -> Gear), I get the message:
The fantastic lxml wrapper for libxml2 is required by inkex.py and therefore this extension. Please download and install the latest version from <http://cheeseshop.python.org/pypi/lxml/>, or install it through your package manager by a command like: sudo apt-get install python-lxml
When I check the Inkscape.app bundle (in Inkscape.app -> Contents -> Resources -> python -> site-packages -> i386 -> 2.5 (or 2.3 or 2.4),
I see directories "lxml" and "numpy," so these seem to be present (so why is it complaining they are absent?)
I do have multiple python versions installed so maybe this is the problem?
Thanks for any feedback you can provide.
Sincerely,
Gary
Effects in OS X Leopard: Anyone got them working???
Re: Effects in OS X Leopard: Anyone got them working???
After some more searching in this wonderful forum, I found a useful post that has resolved most of my problems with "Effects" in Inkscape for OS X 10.5.
The post indicated that the most recent development version of Inkscape for OS X 10.5 doesn't have the problems with "Effects" that I indicated. After installing this version, I can confirm that this is correct.
Take care,
Gary
