Image background has shrunk after moving file from one computer to another

Postby LeperColony » Wed Jul 06, 2016 7:22 am

First post to the forums, thanks in advance for the help.

I use Inkscape to make maps for a gaming campaign. I started this on what is now my old computer, and this is what I had:

When I got a new computer, I backed up my files and now on my new computer, I am trying to resume my work, but for some reason the image I am using for my background has shrunk, even though I haven't done anything to it.

I don't understand why the picture no longer fills my entire image. Not only am I pretty bad at Inkscape, but I "figured out" how to make my map when I started this, a few years ago, and no longer recall exactly what I did. I do know that the background image is its own layer, as is the grid map.

Any assistance or suggestions would be appreciated.

There was a bug in the previous Inkscape version that caused images that were stretched (i.e. scaled non-uniformly) to display nicely in Inkscape, but wrongly everywhere else. This bug was fixed, but the files that have been created with 0.48 still contain the error.

The next Inkscape version will contain an extension that can help fix the problem automatically.
For the current version, do the following:

- Select image
- open XML editor
- in the upper text entry field, enter: preserveAspectRatio
- in the lower one, enter: none
- click Set
- Done!
