Canvas is useless upon loading

Postby tomahern » Wed May 25, 2016 1:46 am

I've installed Inkscape and opened it (XQuartz is updated to 2.7.8), but the canvas shows up as a solid color with some strange patterns embedded. Trying to draw just yields a pixelated mess. Does anyone know how to fix this issue? I've attached a screen shot so you can see what I'm trying to describe.

Many thanks,
Tom

Try the solution discussed in this earlier topic: black screen, can't open/preview files (possibly some incompatibility with display profile / output 'Colors' setting in XQuartz, not sure).

I just tested with Inkscape 0.91 on OS X 10.7 Lion with XQuartz 2.7.9 - the symptom matches a custom ''Colors" setting (in XQuartz' Preferences > Output) of just 256 Colors. Make sure to choose a higher value - AFAIU the default setting is to take the Colors information 'From Display'.
