separating a worm from an apple to use in SCAL

Postby celyinsc » Wed Dec 31, 2008 8:59 am

I'm new at Inkscape (on my Mac), but have spent endless hours practicing before coming here for help. I bring in a .svg picture. I want to separate the leaf and worm from the apple. My plan is to take the pieces back into Sure Cuts A Lot to cut on my Cricut machine. I know it has to do with "Paths". I've used "inset" and retrieved the apple, but my worm disappears. I don't know how to separate the apple into individual pieces. Any help out there? ( I saw a man on You Tube due a great illustration, but can know longer find it. ( I'm having fun with inkscape) I have A LOt to learn.

I'm not familiar with your "apple" file so I can only take a guess at the problem :) It's possible the objects in the SVG have been grouped, so you may need to ungroup them. When you select an object with :tool_selector: the status bar at the bottom of the Inkscape window will tell you if you have selected a group or any other sort of object.
