Hi VitalBodies,
Nice! I can't wait to see how it develops. I like how the dancers have a kind of retro appearance. Not sure if that was your intent, but I like it. She looks like she could be "doing the Twist"!

Re: HAPPY NEW YEAR Inkscape Enthusiasts!
So what is the story with the Inkscape.org site? It is so old and outdated. I think the art in the gallery has not changed in years. Is the project still alive and well?
For this year I would like to do art with a deeper, to the bone, more universal appeal. I would like to move to the center of the path. I would like to not do so much of my thing but the thing.

Re: HAPPY NEW YEAR Inkscape Enthusiasts!
I'm not sure about the website, but I suspect it suffers from the usual open source-developers-busy-developing-and-don't-have-time-for-much-else thing. Plus we're only just past the holiday season. One might have similar worries about this forum, if they judged from traffic over holidays, lol.
I'm not much for new year resolutions. For me, Inkscape is all the time. I have several projects going, and work on whichever one I feel motivated to work on. They're mostly big and long-term. But I'll be throwing in some quick short ones along the way, like mini-tutorials for forum replies, and whatever little exercises we create for ourselves in the Competitions forum (not competitions, just in that forum).
Out of curiosity though, what is "the thing"? You mean like mainstream art, if there is such a thing?
PS - My landscape map project, inspired by yours, is still in progress. In fact, it's open and I'm working on it now - just little by little. I took a break from it for awhile, because I needed to id the trees. So after a few trips to the park (over 100 deciduous trees, although roughly half are under 20ft tall -- haven't counted the conifers, but far fewer) I'm back at work on it. Still may have to scale down the area though

Re: HAPPY NEW YEAR Inkscape Enthusiasts!
I have NOT forgot about your offer to ID some of our plant friends! And yes, I have my yard and the park still going too!
My Byrd Park graphic gets downloaded pretty often (relatively speaking) so perhaps some other folks are feeling in the groove, of drawing the grove.
I like the New Year for a perspective shift. Like shift to the heart, shift to the big picture, shift to the someone else's perception altogether, shift to your whole body view. But shift, and keep shifting.
I get the impression one can do their thing. Or one can attempt the thing. Ones own thing is based upon what one is relative to personally. The thing is not main stream but main stream rides on it to some degree.

Re: HAPPY NEW YEAR Inkscape Enthusiasts!
In classic forum etiquette, this is my thread and most people will not post art to it. But I open this thread to all, to post art that is new years related or related to change OR JUST PLAIN EXPRESSION. Also to jump into the conversation about taking your art to the next level. I let go of this being my thread per say.

Re: HAPPY NEW YEAR Inkscape Enthusiasts!
Hi Vital Bodies,
As one of the many Inkscapers Worldwide, Thanks for the nice greeting. I like the dancers, the colour scheme, and all. Yes I did click the link and check out the other versions of your greeting image, and I liked every one of them. Please don't change the dancers, they are perfect as they are.
About new years resolutions: I really don't see the point in waiting until the start of a new year to change something I want to change, so no, I haven't made any resolutions about anything. Hope your holidays were happy, and your new year was a blast.

Re: HAPPY NEW YEAR Inkscape Enthusiasts!
Thank you Inkspots for your comments. We had a blast on New Years!
I do not wait for New Years to change, but I like to take some EXTRA time out to ponder the past year, and the year forward and meditate on how to make this year an even better than the last or for that matter any year. In a sense, to light up my intent and more fully navigate. To learn how to be a better person, a better artist, live a better life and love everybody.

Brynn, every once in a while I wonder if you might enjoy leading some different art things/events/somethings. Not that you do not already do that here on the forum.
But ideas are ideas and here are some I have had...
Ideas: Wikipedia art, this is art that helps to educate.
Entering contests like this one: http://www.ylighting.com/flos-design-contest.html?cvosrc=tumblr.flos.cancan. Ok, so that is a pretty random contest, yes, but the IDEA is a forum activity related to art where people might win a prize or even big bucks.
This could happen on the forum where we have fun with each other.

The pattern in SVG: http://www.vitalbodies.net/site/images/stories/uploads/drawing.svg
What I liked about this contest is that I could not really relate to it in the normal way tend I do art. That meant I have to shift, to see it different, to be different than I might normally be.
A challenge...

Yeah, we've been doing that with some little exercises that we set up for ourselves (all in the Competitions forum). Actually RM. started it. Really just a handful of us, so far have participated.
There hasn't been much interest in contests or competitions, and I'm not sure why. For me, it would just be too intimidating. I love to participate, because it gives me a chance to learn and grow as an artist and with Inkscape skills. But since I could never win.....well, it's just a lot more fun for me when it's not competitive.
But anyway, there are.....well I had to go and count them because I couldn't remember, lol. There are 7 of them so far, none time limited. Anyone can submit drawings to those topics, at any time (and as many times as you want) and hopefully receive comments and support. (I try to respond to all because I don't want anyone to feel left out.) So if you see any that interest you, please feel free to jump right in. Or if you think of a topic, feel free to start a new drawing exercise/challenge.

Brynn, I think it is no mystery, that you are perhaps one of the great factors of LOVE on this forum.
