Hi,
I'using Inkscape 0.47 on Ubuntu 10.04 with Italian keybord- I'm trying to manipulate text as explained in this tutorial, but if I press alt+arrow (with text tool) nothing appens.
Does anybody knows how can I move letters by keeping it in text format?

Text manipulation keystroke
Re: Text manipulation keystroke
possible causes of your problem:
- Kerning and Shifting don't work with 'Flowed Text'. Maybe you created your text not as regular text object but as 'Flowed Text': using the text tool and click-dragging a (blue) text frame on-canvas before actually entering the text creates a type of text object that allows reflowing of paragraphs when the text frame is resized. For a 'simple' logo text however this is not needed and you better create a regular text object by just clicking once with the text tool on the canvas and enter the text right away. You can read more details about creating texts in the manual page Inkscape » Text » Creating Text.
- Do other Inkscape keyboard shortcuts with Alt work for you? Possibly your window manager (or some other application defining global shortcuts) reserves Alt + cursor keys (besides Alt+click/drag). The FAQ "How to make Alt+click and Alt+drag work on Linux?" has some hints how to make Alt+cursor key working in Inkscape.
