You can't define a template (or 'style' as it's more commonly refered to as in most software). But you can copy and paste styles. Simply copy the object you want to use the style of, and then select the object you want to apply it to and select "Past style" from the edit menu.

thanks! My goal was to change simultnaeously styles of several objects, but when I change the style of the source object the style of the destination isn't changed.

You can do that by cloning the original object. Select the original and press Alt-D. That creates a clone, which will inherit the original's color, size, and shape. When you change the original, the clones will change automatically.

You can also re-use colours by creating them as gradients and enabling the option in the preferences to re-use gradients. You can then edit the gradient and have all objects that use that gradient update.

Another trick I use when using gradients for flat colours is to go into the XML Editor and delete the extra gradient stop so my gradient has only one stop. It's then easier to change colours using the gradient editor.

I have created an object as a clone. Can I then make my object to be clone of another original?

You mean, if you have Arnold Schwarzenegger and you cloned him to make Arnold Schwarzenegger II, could you then turn Arnold Schwarzenegger II into a clone of Sylvester Stallone? No :)
