On the launchpad, I wrote:Before I begin, let's get this out of the way:
Inkscape version 0.46, exe installer
Windows XP Home SP2
512 MB of RAM
Intel Celeron CPU 1300 MHz 1.30 GHz
Here's the timeline:
I ran the installer for 0.46, and it prompted me to remove 0.45, so I did so and proceeded to install the newer version. After installation I ran inkscape to find the canvas area completely unresponsive. When I dragged windows over it the windows overlayed and such as with unresponding programs sometimes do, but Inkscape was responding. I could click on various things but couldn't use the canvas. When the canvas had settled down I attempted to move the scroll bars but that caused the canvas to act up once more. So I uninstalled it via Add/Remove Programs, redownloded the .exe installer, and installed again. But the same thing continues to happen and, quite frankly, it's irking me. Nothing much is worse to have creativity crushed by a rock in the road.
The previous version, 0.45, ran fine. Smooth as can be.
Is this a common problem? What could be the cause? I need a specific feature in 0.46 and would also just like to have the newer version. If this cannot be done I will be quite irritated.
Thank you. Any informational help is appreciated.
I honestly don't know what's causing it. A friend suggested it could be caused by not restarting the computer for a long period of time. But I turn it off at night so that's not the problem.
