Since the release of Windows 7 many things have changed. Most PC Users are now using the 64-Bit version on their systems.
As a mathematical program inkscape should offer a 64Bit version too. I hope I'm not too selfish since I'm running a 6 GB RAM PC with Windows 7.
64 Bit

6 GB RAM PC
OMG!!
I don't know if I would agree that most Inkscape users work on 64 bits (usually a laptop), because the LCD screen used actually on someone's lap is often too close for optimal display (see the lesson I learned viewtopic.php?f=30&t=5534). But I do think that many do.
Actually, I thought I read something the other day.....can't remember if it was Inkscape.....that someone was looking into using the dual cores separately, or individually is more accurrate. Let me see if I can find what I had read....unless I dreamed it, lol and I'll report back if I can find it.

Re: 64 Bit
Actually the market is seeing quite a few laptops with 64 bit capability and 4gb of ram.
I also know HP has a laptop/tablet with a 500gb drive, 12.2 in display, 64bit win7, 4gb ram (exp to 8gb) and a built in Watcom tablet digitizer for the touch screen tech. The screen can work like a normal laptop, or turned around and laid flat over they keyboard and used in a notebook/ipad style. I have one, it is quite nice, and was only about $800.
As an artist it is quite the tasty platform as it can beused like a notebook, and it has sensitivity to pressure, 'eraser' etc. So wanting a 64bit version is becoming more apparent
