[Solved] How to pick color from other file?
[Solved] How to pick color from other file?
I have an opened file. Then I start working with new file using File -> New button. I'd like to transfer some colors from my old file to new. I've tried to use the pick color tool but it refuses to work outside the document. What should I use to transfer colors?

Re: How to pick color from other file?
Hi.
To get color from one instance of Inkscape to another.
In the "from" inkscape - click the object with the color you want to use - copy to clipboard - (Ctrl C)
Switch to the "to" Inkscape - click on the object to receive the color, paste the style (Shift - Ctrl - V)

Good Luck!

Various other methods - all involve getting some version of the old objects into the new file, then using the Colour Picker:
1) Take a screenshot of the original file, paste it into the new file, and use the colour picker on that.
2) If you only want colours from a few objects you can also select them and use Edit > Make A Bitmap Copy to create an image that you can then copy and paste between Inkscape instances.
3) Copy and paste the objects themselves, then delete them from the new file once you've used the colour picker on them.
4) Drag and drop the original file on disk into the new Inkscape window to pull all the objects in at once, then delete from the new file once you've used the colour picker on them.
