How to make this text

Postby fredep57 » Thu Mar 23, 2017 2:30 am

OK, I want to try to make a text file to be imported into a 3d printing application. But to do that I need to create the text. I want the text to look like the attached Chevrolet script. Note that the font is OK, but how to raise up the middle like this is challenging.

How can I do that? I have tried all the filters and nothing works like I want it. So, what else is available?

Thanks
E

Is your 3D printer able to print in color? Or what would you like to achieve? What do you mean by 'raise up the middle'?

(Just in case: the 3D in the drawing is only *simulated* by adding shading / filters / gradients - you'll need to do the 'raising' in the 3D application. SVG is 2D only)

OP might want a centerline-based style gradient, to height-map in another program.

e.g. capital H, in a block font:

Have a nice day.

I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1

The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/
