Ok....(some background:) i have a pen tablet as many of us no doubt do and I was wondering a few things....
First i thought...
1) Does inkscape have a tool that takes advantage of the pressure sensitive nib (i.e. by making a brush swell or shrink with in confines depending on the pressure)
and then i thought:
Now even if this were the case it would be a shame to attempt to construct a design with the sketch feel (that can be obtained with this type of setup) if rendering vertually solid areas by building them up with lines, (like you might if you were hurriedly scribble filling in an area on a page with a biro....) in a vector context necessitated stacking in some cases scores of dozens of line objects on top of one another like spaghetti soup.....
So i wondered...
2) is there also a way to build up a filled shape by scribbling with a brush....
i.e. in exactly the same way you do for a raster app.... by for vector.....
So that you could build up the shape by scribbling new input lines on top of one another with each path being automatically merged and combined in such a way that the finished object when finalized would simply be one total outline with sub paths for the holes etc....
As by my way of thinking these 2 points are the main things one would need to take full advantage of the pen tablet as a medium and not just a substitute for a mouse.
"Raster like" vector object construction....

There is a setting for it in Calligraphy tool and Under File menu there is an option Input devices, check them out.
In the development builds there are also improvements, seems like developers read your mind http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php ... raphy_tool You can add to or subtract from previously drawn object.

Looks like that idea was ripe...im glad inkscape seems to be kickin along nicely...(TY)
I take it there is no support for pressure sensitive input devices yet.......?

We've supported pressure on wacoms for several releases, you just need to configure the tablet in the input devices dialog on the file menu.

Sounds good...
