How to move text and smooth lines

Postby Ocea » Fri Jan 04, 2013 5:05 pm

Hi there. I'm hoping you can help me. I've done a few searches but haven't managed to come up with the answers I seek.
I'm not a graphic designer by any means. I'm just fed up with the graphic designer I employed to tweak my logo. It just got too bloody hard to try to get across what I wanted so I've just given up and I've downloaded Inkscape. I am hoping what i need is considered minor :)

My logo is a word in a decorative frame.
I want the lines of that frame smooth and not 'rustic' as she preferred it to be.
And I want the word moved up within the frame so I can add the tagline underneath it (that she was supposed to add).

I'm pretty cluey in that it doesn't take long for me to pick up something.
But if you think it would take more time than it's worth then I 'would appreciate advice to that effect.

Thanks.

Welcome to InkscapeForum!

Ah yes, I know how frustrating it can be when someone you hire to do something, and they can't (or won't) respect your wishes. I had a hair stylist like that once -- I told her very, very clearly what I wanted, but she insisted on cutting it in a style that she thought was better. After we had the same discussion about it for the 2nd or 3rd time, I found someone else to cut my hair! So perhaps better to be on your own

Anyway, as far as moving the text, assuming it's regular text without significant changes, it should be a simple matter. It's hard to say without seeing the actual image. But for smoothing the lines, we'll need to see what you mean by "rustic". There are too many possibilities for the phrase "smooth lines". It could be quite simple, or it could be a complex issue.

Could you attach the SVG file? Or upload wherever you want and give us the link to it. Then we can download, and see exactly how it's made :D
