[solved] Merge node

Postby Flog » Mon Jun 02, 2008 10:55 pm

Hello,
I want to know how merges three nodes.
example : I use a Bézier curve and I want an other curve which starts in middle of first curve.
If I can't, I want to know how to make stick several node together. Because, when I zoom or move, I can see holes.

Thanks,
Regards,

You can't join three nodes. But there is a snap setting that may make your life easier. It's under File > Document Properties > Snap. Try enabling "Snap to paths" or one of the other options depending on your preferences.

Hi,

I'm a new user of Inkscape. I want to design a stick tree with branches and nodes.
I first use this tool :tool_pen: and pull on Ctrl to have some straight lines.

I designed that (2 branchs until their leaves) :

and I want to restart from this root and to design this :

The purpose of this is to finally have just one object to apply the same color ...

The first method that I saw, was to use an existing node of my previous object to begin my new line. But I only could visualise the terminal nodes.
The second method was to start a new object which begin near the middle of my branches and then to merge the two nodes of my two objects. But I never found where to do that.

The lack of a kind of merge function is a feature or is it in the plan of development?

Thanks, Asmo

PS : In your solution of the magnetic nodes, we finally have several objects and if we want to move one point, we must select all stacked points.
PS : Sorry for my poor English

You can't fork a path. A path is like a peice of string--it can only have two ends. You can use a peice of string to define the area of a forked shape though. In inkscape you can do this by selecting your two paths and going to Path > Stroke to Path. Once both paths are converted you can union or combine them.
