Vector Chess Diagram Tools

Postby Interchangeable » Tue Aug 13, 2013 6:02 am

Chess diagrams are made of a bunch of simple shapes, and there's no reason they can't be vectorized. So, I've done just that: http://www.reddit.com/r/chess/comments/ ... _diagrams/. Now all electronic chess publications can have infinitely scalable diagrams! Example diagrams I created with these tools (and White to play and win for those of you who play chess): http://imgh.us/Playwin.svg, http://imgh.us/PlaywinMerida.svg, http://imgh.us/PlayWinLiepzig.svg, http://imgh.us/PlayWinCases.svg. All the tools are licensed under CC-BY, so anyone can use them without charge as long as I am credited.

Nice work. Can any chess programs output the board as a scalable svg?

I don't believe copies of existing work can be claimed as original and licensed. The copyrights are retained by the original creator, unless the work has passed into the public domain.

In this case, the copied fonts are freeware (software) that re-creates images that may or may not be in the public domain.
Have a nice day.

I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1

The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/
