hi,
A very neat machine prints vectors onto an egg shell or a ping pong ball. I thought this was weird and an interesting gadget. The machine is about $200 and can be found at http://egg-bot.com/ which mentions Inkscape quite a few times. The actual machine can be bought from http://evilmadscience.com/productsmenu/tinykitlist/171-egg-bot. Example of printing on eggs can be seen on Flicker such as

I've actually heard of that and seen a couple articles on it. Egg painting/dying is a really old art form. I have a painted egg from the 1970's still (somewhere). The manual method uses wax to coat what you've designed already, then apply a new color, dip in wax, etc., and it takes hours and hours. There was also a recent show on it (can't remember what channel, I watch a lot of Hallmark, History and those type of channels), they showed an egg artist and lots of hsi artwork, the eggs are so pretty (and so expensive!). It takes so many hours, that I can imagine that gadget would save tons of hours. (I've seen that gadget on a tv show as well, it's pretty cool). While I wouldn't have the patience to dye eggs, I can appreciate the skill needed for it.
