Inkscape has been crashing loads with my current project (probably because my computer just can't handle the file sizes and big operations). Some times inkscape will manage to save a copy when it crashes, but not always, and unfortunately the files have been corrupted once or twice as well. I have autosave set up for every 10 minutes but the problem is working out which file I should use (once I managed to locate them that is) because I could have two documents open at once and the naming of the autosave files are just date and time stamps.
So I was wondering, is it possible to change the way that inkscape names the autosave files for easier identification?

Re: autosave files
Just an idea, some image browsers can show the metadata of the images.
By giving different name/description in the file's metadata, it may work?

Re: autosave files
And that would help, how? I'm not very tech savvy, sorry!
Opening the files in internet explorer seems to work, except that often the documents are much bigger than the standard A4 that I start with so only a small section is shown. That is if there is even anything on the area where the A4 page would be (I hide it since I don't usually need it).
In the file how? Do you mean on the actual canvas?
