Blur Tool

Postby Viscious-Speed » Wed Apr 01, 2009 6:37 am

I'm having a problem with the blur tool. For some reason when I export svg to png there are parts of the image that I blurred that doesn't translate in the png file. See the image below? The blue circle around the woman won't blur!

What is it that I'm doing wrong? Please help. Thanks!

well, i'm not professional user, but in my experience sometimes objects in inscape 0.46 losts after exporting if they have small number of points in the construction (well, don't know right i explain by english words..) as i remember they called "add points" :tool_node: or something like in example:
first object in future may have not good renderring:

but second will be allways good:

or may be the reason that you hide blur-object...

At first the shape was a star (many points/nodes) & when I exported ,no blur. Then I change it to a circle & when I exported it, no blur again!

Also I didn't hide the object, it just behind the woman that's all, still very visible. Oh well, thanks anyway klyuchnikovart.

Is it just a circle or a hand drawn path that is circular? Did you try deleting the path and drawing a new one, if it's a simple path? Also can you post a bigger image and screen cap. I can't really see what is going in the first one?

It's just a circle using the ellipse tool. And yes I did try deleting the first, also the second, and on the third i gave up! I've edited my earlier post & uploaded it with a bigger pic. U can see this blue circle (light Opacity) just behind the woman in the centre of the pic. Sorry about the pic, there's too much stuff goin on I know!

I dunno if this means anything or might affect the exported end result but I don't work in layers. Funny thing is the other blurs all turned out alright when exported, just that particular one.

Well there are a few more things you can check. Inkscape drops parts of image on exporting to png but they are usually paths with like 100s of nodes. I have two images that inkscape drops part of. You can get around that by either change the dpi by a large amount like 100s of points (than scaling down) or get a different program to generate the png file from the svg file. MiroUgly mention Batik Rasteriser but I never got around to trying it I just changed the dpi. Also I think I remember some talking about getting around a problem with a blur by grouping the path to be blurred with a larger rectangular path with no fill or stroke. But I can't find where I read it. The can also be a problem exporting a mask. Did you use a mask anywhere in the image. If so you might want to check it's boarders.

You might also have more success with Batik Rasterizer - http://xmlgraphics.apache.org/batik/too ... rizer.html
