Hi, there. I'm new at tracing and just read the QuickStart help guide on this, but still have a question.
So I have a bitmap file--it's a screen shot of a GoogleMap and I'm trying to trace it to turn it into a vector file. I'm using the straight path tool and have figured out how to create paths, and have in effect traced all the "streets" on the map, but now am trying to figure out how to get rid of the "background" (i.e. the original map) so that what remains is just my tracing; then I can use the text tool to add the street names back in manually. Is that correct?
My problem is that unlike with the tutorial, when I use Path-->Difference, nothing happens because the original image underneath isn't recognized as being anything like text or a path. Did I do this the wrong way? Now that I understand how to trace things, how should I approach this, and what should the next step be after I've traced all the street paths to be on my way to turning this into a vector image?
Thanks!

Re: Help with tracing paths
You can simply select the original bitmap image of the map and press Delete to remove it from the drawing.
