I have a Group which has about five different Objects in it. (These five Objects are pretty diverse - some with Strokes, some without.)
My goal is to have one Gradient which makes the entire Group invisible at the center, and then gradually become opaque at the edges.
However, I have been unable to figure out how to do this with one "master gradient". (This tutorial was cool, but I couldn't follow it - http://www.linuxformat.co.uk/wiki/index ... _gradients.)
So can anybody explain how to do this? Just a Gradient on an entire Group. Thanks as always.

Re: Adding a Gradient to Multiple Objects
Hi, there is more than one way to interpret your post.
1. Your group of objects are all colored differently, and you would like to maintain those colors in strokes and fills while making the entire group
The answer to this would be to use a mask, filled with the proper gradient. Look in this manual for how to use a mask.
2. you want to replace all the fills with a gradient, coloring all your objects the same gradient, objects at the center being more transparent than objects on the edge.
You can do this by grouping your objects and then switching to the gradient tool and clicking and dragging or double clicking the group. Look in the manual for instructions on how to use the gradient tool.
The Bah manual is uptodate and precise. Other webpages are definitely not as good for learning the current version of inkscape!

Thanks for the specific assistance, as well as the reference to the Bah Manual. I will be consulting it in the future.
For this specific issue - adding a master Gradient - the Mask feature is working very well. I wasn't even aware of Masking before your reply here, so thank you!
