[solved] Interpolating the colors between two pattern fills

Postby Blue Streak » Thu Jul 17, 2008 2:22 pm

Hi folks, my dilemma is that I'd like to interpolate the colors between the two blocks shown below (I've rasterized them here, but I have them in SVG as well). The problem is that in Inkscape the "interpolate style" option in the Interpolate effect only seems to interpolate solid fill colors and not pattern colors. Is there another way to do this? I know that it is quite simple to do in Illustrator, but I don't own that. Also, if necessary I can rasterize several copies of it first and use some function in GIMP if necessary, but I'm not sure how to do that either.

Thanks for the help.

Masking could work, I guess. Put two shapes with those patterns on top of each other... add another one, fill it with a white/black gradient and set that one as mask for the upper pattern shape.

Actually, I've figured out that I can just lay them on top of each other and change the opacity of the one on top. This might not work as well in a situation with different patterns though, but it seems to work for what I need at the moment. Thanks.
