Importing large pdfs

Postby Laura » Thu Oct 28, 2010 1:16 am

Hello, When I import a large pdf file into inkscape, parts of the image disappear. There are no other layers, and when I zoom way out I can see the whole image, but I can't see it to manipulate it. It doesn't seem related to the page borders.
Why does the image disappear?

Thank you,
Laura

Maybe you are running out of memory?

Hi Mazui,
Thank you for replying. I don't think that my computer is out of memory, as it is new. Does the program have a memory limit? The size of the pdf I am importing is 62KB.
Could this be a problem of preferences?

The size of the pdf I am importing is 62KB.

I wouldn't call 62 kb large. 62 mb, yes very large....

I just tried creating a pdf that is 300x600 meters. :)

I didn't have any problems taking it back into Inkscape and edit it again.

There is probably some sort of incompatibility between the inkscape pdf importer and the program that made your pdf file.

Yes, that is a much larger file. I exported the pdf from R. Exporting as an svg will solve this problem (although R 2.11.1 keeps crashing with svg files).
Thank you for your help.
