Pattern Along Path

Postby ivanlow » Sat Feb 11, 2017 4:59 pm

Hi,

I was watching this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pi7Y7xc9qxc&t=2s
While trying to follow the Pattern Along Path, I wasn't successful.
I have an attachment here, hope that you can show me what I did wrong.

Thanks very much.

Hi.

Seems to work here.
Select the red path and copy it (Ctrl+C),
select the other path, open the path effects editor (Shift+Ctrl+7) and click the third icon or the one on the right side
-either the one with the "paste path" or with the "link to path on clipboard" tooltips.
If you select the latter you can modify the base pattern later as in the video.

Then, set a red fill and no stroke on the path with the fill and stroke tab (Shift+Ctrl+F).

Hi Lazur,
I must report this since this problem only happen to my Macbook Inkscape version. I wasn't able to produce the result after your suggestion, so I fire up my Linux box and realize that everything was fine. Thank you very much for your time.

To make using vector objects which have been copied to the clipboard (Ctrl+C) work with Inkscape 0.91 on (Mac) OS X / macOS, please change the Pasteboard settings of X11/XQuartz as depicted on the Inkscape mac-os download page or as described in the related FAQ.
