Inkscape license

Postby johnson2000 » Fri Jul 03, 2009 3:13 am

Hi,

I don't understand the GPL license for Inkscape. Is it possible for me to use Inkscape graphics on my website without any paid license? Thanks

yeah, you can do what ever you like with graphics you create with inkscape. The GPL just affects the software itself, not what you produce with it.

Yes, it is. The license only refers to redistributing Inkscape itself, the application. Any images made with it are automatically copyright by you (at least in the US); the GPL license doesn't apply to images you create. You can do anything at all that you want to do with them.

Or maybe you're referring to the images that come with Inkscape, the icons and About screen, etc? I believe those are all covered with a Creative Commons license, which means you should be able to use them as well. For more information on that, you might want to send an email to the devs.
