A different approach to 3D text

Postby llogg » Thu Apr 30, 2009 12:47 pm

Not sure if the extra steps with this method are worth it, but I feel good knowing the perspective is mathematically correct. :D

This is an excellent way to deal with 3 point perspective in Inkscape :D and an excellent tutorial, it should be easy to follow

I think you should create a screenshot of this tut so it can be published on inkscape.org. Although the new version is coming out soon this tut seems to fall under 0.46 features so it would probably be put under 0.46 screenshots.

Just a couple of notes; under 5. you have a typo "frong", the text is a bit hard to read but I guess you can increase the size on the screenshot, maybe give it some more line-height.

prkos- thanks for catching the typo. I'll have a look to see what a screenshot would need that's not included here and submit it over to inkscape.org.

arlyn-not sure I understand your comment. There are several ways of getting 3D text effects in inkscape, and I had never seen anyone using this particular method to make sure the perspective was right. That's the point of this tutorial. Not trying to speak to the actual usage of 3D text in design.
