Masking a pattern with a path.

Postby JZA » Tue Sep 08, 2015 8:01 am

I am trying to get this design:
M-1.png
M-1.png (9.46 KiB) Viewed 1169 times

To become this:
m-2.png
m-2.png (6.63 KiB) Viewed 1169 times

Unfortunately when I go to Object -> Mask or Clip I dont get the desired result. A wireframe shows the original path:
M-3.png

Please help.

Select the pink objects all and group them together (Ctrl+G)

Select the letter M and duplicate it (Ctrl+D)

Select the group and the duplicant atop, and set clipping.

Another one:
Draw a rectangle with the same fill colour of that M, move it to bottom (End),
group it with the pink objects,
and use the M shape for clipping.
This may render with crisper edges.

The M needs to be on top of the pattern.
