Line spacing differs in empty lines [SOLVED]

Postby mman » Sat Oct 07, 2017 8:05 pm

Hi all,

I've been working on a table structure on Inkscape by creating three text boxes next to each other to represent table columns, and having each line on each column align to create table rows.

The problem is, if I leave empty lines in to the text boxes, the empty lines gain smaller line height than the lines with some text on it. I can work around the problem by adding a single space to those empty lines, so they will align perfectly, but these single space lines are not saved into the svg.
When I save the file and open it again, the spaces are gone and the line heights are wrong again. Thus every time I open the file I have to manually add the spaces back to get the rows align.

I couldn't attach a screenshot of the problem as I can't get the file size low enough, but you can see the problem illustrated here: http://mman.kapsi.fi/inkscape_empty_line_height.png

Any thoughts how can I fix / get around this?

Inkscape version 0.92 on Windows 10.

Thanks, that link led me to a solution:
First I set the (inner) line height to zero, and activated the icon with two T's on the left side of the Font size selector to be able to adjust the outer line height. Then played with the outer line height value to get the line heights right. These settings also survive saving and loading.
