Hey! First off, newbie here. Used GIMP for a long time and just got my hands on Inkscape. It's amazing and I love it. Anyway, I've seen some ways to do "brushes" in Inkscape and some splatter brushes to use, but I was wondering if there was any 'random selection' feature or plugin or something. For instance, I have, let's say, seven "splatter" brushes similar in size but different in shape, and I want to have them cycle randomly in order to achieve that awesome 'paint-splatter-on-canvas' look.
I have a piece here that's kind of what I'm looking for. But, it'd be much easier if the brushes automatically (and hopefully randomly, but that isn't really required) cycled out, instead of me having to manually get a new brush every time. Hopefully that makes enough sense...
So, does anything like that exist? If not, how should I go about bringing it into existence?
Thanks!

Splatters 'n Stuff
Re: Splatters 'n Stuff
To achieve a somewhat random splatter effect in Inkscape I use a splatter font (http://www.dafont.com/wc-rhesus-b-bta.font) and use the text tool to type out some random characters. I then duplicate this a few times and type out some more random characters. Then I use my selector tool and while holding down my left mouse button to move the text around I hit the spacebar to make a stamping. I do this several times with all of the text and rotate and flip some of them. The result looks pretty random when I'm done with it.
Re: Splatters 'n Stuff
For true random-ness, use "create tiled clone". Refer to the Inkscape Guide for how.

Nice idea Microugly, can I suggest an addition to that technique tho?
Grab any old text and paste it in, then apply that font, and do text on path to put it on a centerline, then you can have editable, controlled trails of splatters...
