Clipping help

Postby AlbinoAnaconda » Mon Jan 07, 2013 11:59 pm

Is there anyway to turn off the ability to select the hidden part of a clipped object? I keep running into the problem of trying to select something, but it's on a layer lower and behind a larger clipped object and I end up clicking the hidden part of that clipped object and not the object I was trying to click. I've searched online but I'm not wording it right or something.

Thanks in advance.

Hi AA,

It's a bug. The only way you can prevent selecting the friggin object is you put it on a separate layer and lock that. I know exactly what you mean.

Cheers,

Jelle

Alt-click allows you to select objects lower in the z-order (i.e. behind). The first click selects the object you don't want, then alt-clicking selects the next object down at the click location, and the next alt-click goes another level deeper etc. You can also switch to outline view and click the outline of the object you want to select...
But this is an especially unfortunate bug when it comes to aligning because there is no workaround - a clipped object will still be aligned by its original edges and centers... this was not always so, so maybe it will be fixed shortly!
Your mind is what you think it is.

oh boy, I know what you mean, had to deal with that glitch last night, so frustrating.
I was wondering if this is something that's in line to be fixed? sure hope so.
