Importing an EPS with Poppler = One image group

Postby photobooths4all » Wed Oct 12, 2016 12:47 pm

Hi All.

I am thinking I am missing something obvious. I am running .91 on Win10. I am trying to import an EPS vector file using Poppler to keep the gradients. If I import it with a low number of meshes, it looks like garbage, but I can ungroup to get the individual elements. If I import with Poppler, it looks great, but I get everything as a single image. I cannot ungroup at all.

I never used Poppler before, but I cannot imagine this is correct behavior.

Here is the image source file, which I have to link, since I cannot upload an .eps
https://www.dropbox.com/s/s6ats61hqlvi1tv/139_YXV0dW1uX2JhY2tncm91bmQwMDM.eps?dl=0

Please let me know if it's the image or the user ;-) If it's me, please let me know what step(s)/settings I am missing. I tried both embedding and not embedding the images and changing the mesh number (doesn't seem to affect Poppler), both of which seem to be the only settings worth messing with.

TIA

Pete

Poppler will probably only create a raster on this.
That's a lot of gradients to convert to vector... Probably will choke even the fastest machines.

Might be a development version that handles this better, maybe a developer or experimenter can shed some light.
Have a nice day.

I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1

Just tested with the trunk version - it doesn't import properly with it, either. One of the two import options gives you an image with rectangles (instead of the flags), and an image (for the pumpkins). The other one gives something that looks like the import in current Inkscape, but ungrouping doesn't seem to end. In outline mode, all objects seem to exist, but many of them are not paths, but clip paths.
Something doesn't work? - Keeping an eye on the status bar can save you a lot of time!

I found many objects, very very small in the lower left corner (even though the clip paths were proper size).

Even if the objects were proper scale, the object count would be nearly astronomical for an image of decent quality, with a commensurate filesize. My "rough" import to vector had >90K lines of code.
Have a nice day.
