There's a lot that can be done with SVG. Drawing is just scratching the surface.
Programming though doesn't always mix so well with visual design. There's a case for visual design and there's a case for programatic design.
What we don't really have yet is something that can help bridge the two.
Can or should Inkscape get into the business of animation, 3D & interactive design like games?
At the moment I think no, it's too big an ask. But what I think could be useful if a design could be drawn and then Inkscape then assists referencing to this in code.
What are your thoughts?
Interactive designs, games, animation & Inkscape
Re: Interactive designs, games, animation & Inkscape
Welcome to InkscapeForum!
I can't speak to the programming side of your question. But current long range plans are to have animation working in Inkscape by version 1.0. Considering we're slowly inching up on 0.5, it's a way off into the future. Here's some developer discussion from the wiki: http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Animation. And here's the current Roadmap: http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Roadmap Hhmm....well, I see that plans have changed since the last time I looked. A while ago, I read that animation was hoped for by 1.0, by now it looks like it could happen before then. But those long term goals certainly aren't set in concrete!
