Hi Friends,
I've just downloaded the new stable release version 0.48. Before installing, I uninstalled 0.47 (Windows 7) using Control Panel > Programs and Features. I looked in Windows Explorer, to find out if there were any remaining files (because sometimes even though I've uninstalled something, there might be a couple of empty folders left behind). But I'm surprised to find the entire program appears to be still there!
I notice that the desktop icon has been removed. And it no longer appears in Programs and Features. But I'm tempted to try opening from Windows Explorer, just to see what happens. However, I don't want to cause any unneccesary problems.
What's the deal with this? I looked for an uninstall file in the leftover Inkscape directory, but don't find one. So what should I do? Should I continue on, and go ahead and install 0.48 normally? Or maybe Restore and try the uninstallation again?
Thanks for your help

Re: uninstalling 0.47
I seem to remember when testing 0.47 that the uninstaller was a bit (very) broken, and left most of the program in place. To uninstall, just delete the inkscape directory under program files, then you can install 0.48.
Re: uninstalling 0.47
Thanks tomh
Well, yes indeed, that is very broken!
Just for the benefit of others who may read this, you can't just delete the program files alone, as a means of uninstalling. You should first uninstall in the proper manner (Windows 7 use Programs and Features; Windows XP use Add/Remove Programs), then delete the leftover files. Correct?

Re: uninstalling 0.47
Sometimes windows uninstalls done by a user only removes that user's access to the program and not the program itself. Are you a user on your computer, and an administrator as well. I don't know 7, BTW so this may not apply to you. did your install ask you if you wanted to install for all users or just you?
Your mind is what you think it is.
Re: uninstalling 0.47
I'm the admin, the only user. I don't recall it asking to install for all users. And the installation was successfull btw!

Re: uninstalling 0.47
Mac Install 048
I'm on an old Mac G4 here, with Tiger 10.4.11
I installed Inkscape 048 and it seems to be working OK but, just a quick question....
I did look for an uninstall app. and checked other posts but found no
references for Mac uninstalling (OSX actually) any old versions.
I know I can just drag the old app to the trash, but it may not be
that simple and any traces of the old version my interfere with the new ?
So, is there something else I need to delete, or perhaps it does not matter ?
Thanks
