Ok here's the problem.
I am using both Illustrator and Inkscape, which is inevitable for me, due to my work.
Now my newest project is to create icons for a system that are looking like the Oxygen icons (They were drawn in Inkscape) used in KDE 4.2. The problem however is that i can't open the .svg or .svgz files correctly in illustrator ( which I believe is caused by the alpha transparencies, but im not sure on that). When i open the icon all transparent areas are solid and non-transparent although they should have a gradient with transparency.
I can open them in inkscape just fine, but saving them as normal svg, eps or something else and then opening in AI didnt work. I am really desperate and I need those icons to be in .ai format, as they will be used in brochures and other advertising material all created with InDesign.
I am really desperate for help, I searched everywhere but can't seem to find a solution. Thanks in advance.
problem with svg files in Illustrator
Re: problem with svg files in Illustrator
I don't believe that Illustrator has full support for the SVG standard, so it's very likely you're going to have problems.
Your best bet is to save the SVG as a PDF and open that in Illustrator. If the SVG doesn't convert properly to PDF then you'll try creating your drawing by working around the effects that don't translate. You might also like to try the development version of Inkscape as it apparently has better PDF support.

Re: problem with svg files in Illustrator
You can try reporting an SVG bug with Illustrator, but i suspect that's a waste of time actually
