How I can straighten images with lnkscape?

Postby Donny » Mon Sep 29, 2008 3:06 pm

I asked Searchbox first, unfortunately - no results, no answers... :(

Therefore, kindly ask about help to advanced users - how can I straighten images with lnkscape?
This is question just about straightening. No helps needed for 30* or 90* (CCW or CW) rotation or something like that.

Thank you!

If you looking for a magic "auto-straighten" button, it doesn't exist.

My experience with straightening a photo has been with Photoshop where you use the measure tool to draw a straight line at the angle of photo and then Photoshop measures that angle and rotates the photo that amount. I don't see that this would be any more accurate than setting a guide in Inkscape and hand rotating the photo to match it.

Note that Inkscape is a vector drawing program. If your using Inkscape for the sole purpose of straightening a photo then you have the wrong tool for the job--you want something like GIMP or Paint.net.

But even in Photoshop it's a manual process. It's just as easy in Inkscape to rotate an image and arbitrary values is it is in Photoshop. Photoshop isn't any easier or more accurate.
