Hello! I could really use some help in creating the album art for a mixtape of Daft Punk mashups I'm working on!
As you can hopefully see from the above image, I'm trying to combine the artwork from Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" with the artwork from Daft Punk's "Alive 2007." But my problem is that the rainbow and the beam of light in the vector graphics I'm working from only extend as far as shown in the picture. I want what's shown in the picture to stay exactly like it is, but for the rainbow and the beam of light to extend all the way to the edge of the Daft Punk image. The rainbow would of course become much bigger by the time it reaches the edge - just extended straight from where it's already going. The difficulty is how to keep the rainbow straight and even like it is when I do this. How can I project beyond where lines go to where they would go if they kept going exactly straight?
I've attached the SVG for as far as I've gotten. Any help with this would be much appreciated!

Your mind is what you think it is.

I got help on the IRC channel and have got this pretty much fixed now. Yay!
You use the node tool and press cntrl+alt to extend line segments.
I had a rather difficult time getting snapping to guides running right, but found out it's important to not only specify what to snap to, but what sorts of things need to snap in the Snapping Bar, typically found on the right side of the screen.
