I'm new to Inkscape, and so far, I LOVE it. But I'm have a strange problem.
I'm trying to fill text shapes in an .svg file. They are no longer text objects, but part one big object.
So I thought it'd be straight forward to use the fill tool. I have threshold set to 100%, but filling still leaves behind edges and corner of the old color (see attached).
Does anybody know why this is happening? Is there a better to do with without using the fill tool?

Re: Filling Text leaves behind old color
On the control bar for the Paint Bucket tool, is a setting Grow/Shrink. You can put a small positive value in there, and it will fill in the gaps. However, other areas might go right over the border.
Or you can switch to the Node tool, and drag the nodes or node handles around, to fill in those gaps (or move the path back if it goes over the border).
But most of the time I would suggest to use a traditional vector fill. For that, you need a closed shape or path.
Can you show us your SVG file? It might be easier to explain if we can see your specific situation.

If the "traditional" means fill color via the palette or dialog, the path can be open.

Have a nice day.

Yes, of course the path can be open, under certain circumstances, such as you've shown. But without knowing more about the project, I feel better saying that paths need to be closed. Because otherwise the next thing you know, we'll be hearing 'I did what you said but now I have bigger uncolored spaces'. Because there are even more circumstances where an open path will not fill properly.
I did ask to see the file, so that we can give specific steps.

I think you might like to work through one or two tutorials to learn a bit about the software and the way it works, rskaskiw. There are some that come with Inkscape, in Help > Tutorials, and there are a couple of other tutorials available online. This one could be useful, as well:

Something doesn't work? - Keeping an eye on the status bar can save you a lot of time!

Your probably right. I was totally winging it without ever sitting down to learn.
Thanks.
