i am following a simple tutorial here: http://www.squidoo.com/inkscapeshirts. and when i get all finished and view my uploaded t-shirt, no matter how i try, the text displays at the bottom of my design, putting it right around the middle of the belly! i am using the "create and edit text objects" (f8)) function to click and drag a text window, then typing the text, setting the font size, picking the font, aligning vertically and horizontally, then saving, browsing, and exporting. the design comes out at the bottom even when it is centered on the text box. i have tried not aligning horizontally which places the text at the top of the box, but it still posts at the bottom. WTF?!

please help.

First, exceedingly poor form to post the same thing three times.
Second, the problem is probably not with inkscape but with cafepress. Make sure the bitmap you are exporting is not too large for cafepress to print at the top of a shirt. Also, make sure when you export the bitmap that you are exporting the correct thing -- select the text/design you want on the shirt, then export bitmap and make sure you choose the selection tab.
Also, try posting some screen captures or providing a link to the cafe press page so we can see what the issue is. Good luck.

try to use normal text object, just click with the tool and start typing, don't click and drag

Are you sure you're looking at the right file? You're exporting as a bitmap (PNG) right? Do you have the correct option (page, drawing, etc)?

yes, exporting bitmap. page selection selected in both the document setup and the export page. i have tried all kinds of combinations of things with no change.

stumped...

THE SOLUTION AT LONG LAST: on the export page don't change the parameters to the intended page size. allow what they give you.
