Inkscape .47 crashes when trying to print

Postby Servalan » Wed Dec 02, 2009 6:21 am

I'm trying to print in inkscape .47.
If I click on File Print or the short cut 'print' the program crashes and disappears, no error messages.
Windows XP. I can't print from version .46 either but can get the print box in .45.
I get no pop up print box in .47.
I've downloaded it again and re installed and deleted Preferences but nothing works.
Can anyone help please?

Same problem for me.
Inkscape 0.47-3 / Windows XP Pro SP2

As soon as the print spoolong begins :
- Inkscape is no more responding
- CPU usage reach right away 50/60% .
- RAM used is twice the size of the edition.
- No data is sent to the printer (size is not increasing in Print spooler : left blank)

The printing is spooling without ending.
If i delete the print job, Inkscape is still no more responding.
The only way to stop is to kill Inkscape process.

There was no problem in 0.46 for the same file.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Best regards,

Paoh

Exactly same problem for me. Only downloaded this today, spent ages producing a file and then can't print it - very disappointing!!

Same promblem here. Cannot print in Windows XP. Print dialog comes up, but nothing is sent to the printer. In fact, on one try it corrupted the print spooler and needed to reinstall the printer. Inkscape isn't much use to me at all if I cannot print!

I have reported the printing problem on Launchpad but I noted what some of the other users said on this forum and was curious. I really love Inkscape. It is a very nifty program and does what I need in a vector program. But I noticed that printing went from dicey to not at all. I know that this is not a printer problem, I can print out just fine from every other program. I downloaded and reinstalled the driver, turned on and off the computer, did all of the necessary oblations, rituals, ju-ju and incantations and yet, the printer just sits there spooling and not printing. Also, I get the impression that I cannot get the same thing twice.

I am the poor wretch who is trying to get labels to come out of the printer via Inkscape. I have to be precise because registration is key. I tweak one way and the other and it just doesn't come out the same way twice. I have to conclude that looks like the randomness of corruption and maybe .47 isn't stable in all cases. I strongly suspect that there is a flaw somewhere in the printing function and I would not be surprised if it didn't effect other functions, too.

I, too, am having issues trying to print.

Inkscape .47
Windows 7 Pro
HP Deskjet F2430

Inkscape doesn't crash on me when I try to print. It just doesn't do anything at all. It sits there as if I never gave it a command to print. It does this with the toolbar button and the file menu command.

It lets me modify vector images wonderfully, but I installed Inkscape in order to modify and/or convert images so I could make some vinyl stencils for my boys' model cars and pinewood derby cars. That requires printing, so from my perspective, what good is an application that won't print?
