Marilyn and John derived from dot shapes

Postby sunaden » Thu Feb 25, 2010 3:43 pm

Hi all

John lennon is drawn with circle dots, Marilyn is drawn with rectangle dots.

svgfile size became heavy.

i love doing halftones in inkscape. these are very cool. I'm curious if you blurred the source image before tracing with clones.

Hi brynn,hjalle and llogg
thanks for your reply.

I don't use "Tiled Clone".
I have made a extension that replaced each pixels of picture to dot shapes,
changing the size by strength of pixel color.

In this method when the dot size is bigger, drawing size is bigger, but keeping the resolution.
At the "Tiled Clone", drawing size don't change, but the resolution decreases.

Adding a related work, Einstein derived from line shapes.
In this time, changing the width of slant by strength of pixel color.

In my experience tiled clones will do exactly what your extension does, you just need to use a "shape" smaller than 1x1px and check "Apply the value to the clones' size"

you are right!
The quote sentence is for the video tutorial.
I didn't try tiled clones before I posted my works.
I had not used that so much.

I post lennon's with tiled clones.

.....but my extension work looks clearer. ;)

by the way, can tiled clones do a similar sample below?
