ive drawn a circle and then a line of text full stops
ive done path obect path and then text put on path
the dots turn into a circle of dots, but i dont want the original circle in the middle
ive done break apart but when i delete the original circle my dots go too.
how do i do it so i am just left with the circle of dots please
help with shapes please
Re: help with shapes please
You could just set the line style to be dotted instead of solid... unless you really need it to be full-stops, in which case I'd set the stroke opacity of the circle to be 0.
Re: help with shapes please
how do i do that then please.
i am also trying to do the same thing but with text, again when i try to delete the inner circle my words go too

In the fill/stroke dialog, use the 3rd tab, and select a stroke pattern that has dashes.

Re: help with shapes please
If you delete the path (the circle in this case) there's nothing for the text to shape to so it will go back to being flat as normal.
What you need to do is select the circle only and in the Stroke Dialogue make the opacity 0%. This will give you visible text on an invisible circular path.

Yes, it should disappear. Maybe you have a second circle there.
I would remove the stroke and fill, rather than setting the opacity to 0, but the effect should be the same either way.
Re: help with shapes please
ok well it wasnt disappearing at all but ive discovered if i right click on the circle and then go to object properties i can click on the hide box and it go's.
so not sure if thats the correct way but it works for me.
ive just printed a page and ive got just the shaped text etc no inner circle which is the result i wanted to that will do.
