Text to circular path?

Text to circular path?

I want to make a circular logo with text around the edge.

I can't figure how to do circular text.
Can someone give me "click this" "select that" instructions for it please?

I've already seen that and can't even make a circle that isn't just a coloured round blob, never mind convert it to a "path". I only barely figured that to "select both objects" I have to hold down the shift key, not that it did anything whatsoever.
