I brought a .jpg image into Inkscape. I need to curve the sides of the image up somewhat so it looks like a label wrapped around a jar.
Is there away to take that image and just pull the sides up slightly? Make it curve a little?

Not the best use of Inkscape... it would need to be converted to vector first, with some degradation.
I'd use Gimp, a bitmap editor. Then, if it's part of a bigger layout, maybe bring the modified image into Inkscape to combine with vector objects.
