Hi Friends,
I'm guessing this is a software issue, but it might end up being that I just don't understand this feature. So please feel free to move this topic if so. Also, I know 0.47 should be ready before too long, but this is bugging me.

For an image I'm working on, I want the arrow keys to move the nodes by 1 px instead of 2 px. So I go into Inkscape Preferences and change the Steps setting from 2 to 1. I finish working for this session and close the file. But then when I open it later, to work on it again, I find the arrow keys once again move the nodes by 2 px, even though I had set it at 1.

Normally when I make changes in Inkscape Preferences, it stays however I set it, until I change it again. But this Steps setting is resetting to the default all on its own.

I have searched at Launchpad, and didn't find anything about this. But on the other hand, I would think this would have already been reported. So I'm not sure if maybe I'm misunderstanding this setting, or maybe I'm doing something wrong. Is there maybe some way to stop it from reverting to the default? Or maybe I don't have the greatest search skills.

I'd expect it to be saved, and it works that way in dev version. I don't know why it wouldn't in earlier versions.

I guess if it's fixed in the dev versions, then there's no problem
