Object locations and stroke size

Postby dj_woff » Sun Feb 10, 2008 11:19 pm

Hello All

I have a few newbie questions.

When selecting a single object Inkscape shows it's position as the X Y coordinate of the centre of the object which is exactly what i want. However when I select multiple objects it shows the X coordinate as the X of the left most selected object, and the Y as the Y of the lowest selected object. This is very confusing! Is there any way to make it so the X,Y of a group of objects as the centre of the group?

Second i have found that the stroke of an object is fixed when it is drawn and stays the same no matter how large you draw the shape. However one the shape has been drawn the stroke becomes proportional to the size of the shape to if i make it smaller the stroke becomes smaller too. As i am using Inkscape as more of a CAD tool this is a real pain. Is there a way to break this link so that the stroke always stays the same E.g 0.5mm no matter how much i resize the object?

Many Thanks

Russell Edwards

P.S. this is based on using the latest stable release on Mac OSX 10.4.11.

Switch to the Select tool :tool_selector: then tooltip the 4 small icons on the right (second bar).
