0.47 release date?
0.47 release date?
Does anybody know when 0.47 will be released? I really would like to be able to import .eps files, which is suppoed to be fixed in this version.
Re: 0.47 release date?
There is no specified release date, sorry. There's really no reason to not use a development version now, though. You can read how at viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1289

I second that, current svn version can be used on daily basis (although developers say it is unstable as it was never before

Re: 0.47 release date?
I think those crashes are now fixed (Node tool crash), so the dev versions are quite stable atm.

Re: 0.47 release date?
Currently I am using windows.. blech.. but I too am waiting to see 0.47! Specifically the Spiro tool.
Inkscape is an amazing tool.. I can only wonder how it will be when it hits version 1.

If your using windows then you can download and try the dev builds very easily. No need to wait

Re: 0.47 release date?
So I go and get the latest snapshot... run it.. dive for the pencil tool and Spiro... what the heck!? ITS CHANGED!!!! AHHHH!!! Watching HeathenX's screencast again... all the shape options are different and the "from clipboard" doesn't react the same as it does in the screencast....

If you would like to discuss the spiro tool in detail I suggest starting a new topic for it rather than discussing in a "release date" topic.
Re: 0.47 release date?
Anything new about a 0.47 beta version at least?
Hardly waiting the 0.47 version.

Theres development builds available whenever you want to try one. no idea when we'll be starting the ball on getting 0.47 out.

You can get a feel for what is new from the release notes - http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/ReleaseNotes047. I don't think there's a place where you can see what's new from week to week. Often new features are boasted on the developers mailing list if you want to keep informed.
Re: 0.47 release date?
I have probably stupid question, but I don´t know where I can find unofficial (or development, beta) version 0.47. Where can I download it?
Re: 0.47 release date?
On the usual Inkscape download page, only lower http://www.inkscape.org/download/?lang=en under title Dvevelopment versions.

Re: 0.47 release date?
Well it's not exactly 0.47 but they are develpment builds that will become 0.47. Most of them are (although you can see the 0.45 and 0.46 version too), choose the latest, you can sort them by date, the last one now is from 30th January, build 20605, the other numbers in the file name is the date and time of the file.

Re: 0.47 release date?
Thank you, prkos, now I understand.
Re: 0.47 release date?
I presume that 0.47pre1 is not available for Windows. The thing is the latest (nightly) build I know of is Inkscape21627-0906200405.7z 20-Jun-2009 02:05. I'm asking because I haven't noticed any performance increase in this build and 0.47 is supposed to support multi-core processors and hardware acceleration. Is it possible to launch 0.47pre1 on Ubuntu LiveCD or LiveUSB?
Re: 0.47 release date?
Whats new in 0.47 is refactoring of the code, you can maybe call it a clean up. There may be some improvements in performance but true multi-core support and hardware acceleration will come in to play at a later date

So IMO you should at least revise this cruel teaser
Can anyone drop some 0.47 real highlights except spiro? I'm Inkscape beginner so what I'm interested in the most are GUI improvements, documentation, performance improvements (very interested in this one). I've noticed snapping feature and some UI changes in comparison to 0.46.

Re: 0.47 release date?
Roadmap is more like a guideline than specific list that must be executed to release a new version. Some of the things listed in a version are postponed, and some of the items are implemented earlier than planned, it all depends on what the volunteers decide to contribute on.
Release notes for the upcoming release will give you a better view of what's coming, as you've found out already.
Roadmap will also get updated in it's own time.

Re: 0.47 release date?
Thank you.
Let me just say that I was never into neither raster nor vector graphics. I had to do some insignia for WW2 flight simulator, I chose Inkscape to accomplish this and I got awed by the possibilities of both - vector graphics and Inkscape!
Some of my work (without even reading all the basic tutorials!):

Luftwaffe emblem traced in 20 seconds

Even forgetting the great effects Inkscape is still a great piece of software in general. Thank you very much for Inkscape!I hope you will forgive me the OT...

It isn't

By the way, if you used 0.47 and some of its features not available before for the illustrations above, please contact me

It was my statement based on Inkscape wiki roadmap

No, I didn't use any of 0.47 new features. I created those graphics before I tried a nightly build for the first time. Two notes just to make it clear:
- all 3-way views of each aircraft in the Aircraft Recognition Guides are bitmaps; black silhouettes and everything else created in Inkscape
- the first three pictures are screenshots presenting some test emblems assembled onto game textures using GIMP and DDS Plugin
- I created all of this with very little skills - that's the beauty of Inkscape.

Re: 0.47 release date?
Just a heads up. We finally reached 500 points and entered hard freeze. Expect new prereleases soon.
