Shift+ctrl+p (preferences) then select --> tools / nodes and you can choose to display the handles

It appears that if you use the icon set from this thread there does not appear to a button to make the nodes toggle on or off.

Are you using 0.45 or 0.46? I just noticed I don't have the option pipo described in 0.46.

I do not see this in either .45 or .46

Just one more thing concerning nodes how do you assign a color to them and like in this screenshot?

sorry
the option im mentioned doesn't work for nodes handles but "selection handles" & seems to have no effect. I've read the tutorial you're speakin about but i've never understood it.

Ok i solved the problem by just copying the show node handles icon from the regular inkscape icon set to fill that spot. Does anyone know how to assign a color to a node. Such as in the posted link.

If you're refering to step two, I think you'll find they're circles drawn for illustrative purposes, not nodes. I suspect it's not possible to change the colour of individual nodes.

Also, you should let the author of that icon set know he missed an icon for toggling nodes.

Will do

Another question concerning nodes. How are all these nodes moved simultaneously as in this tutorial

I will try to talk sens this time  You can do it selecting differents nodes (shift & clik) then you can use the key ">" and "<" to make it smaller or bigger.
Perhaps they are other ways to do it.

ps. It's crazy what you can do playing whit 1/2 selected nodes on a circle ! for exemple you can try whit "v" and "h" whitch invert the selected nodes verticaly and horizontaly. Moving the nodes whith "alt" is interesting too.

Did not know about this sneaky little feature. I see there are alot of keyboard shortcuts to learn.

If you have a scroll-wheel on your mouse you can use that also increase and decrease the number of selected nodes. Just make sure your mouse is over the selected node as you scroll.
