Presure sensitivity on Wacom Intuos 5 Tablet not working

Postby wobley » Thu Nov 01, 2012 4:07 pm

Hi I am new here and relativity new to Inkscape.
My graphics tablets pressure sensitivity won't work with Inkscape. I recently upgraded my old tablet to an Intuos5 wacom tablet, and I have spent the day searching this forum and the web for a solution as to how to get it to work. I have managed to get the pen to work, but only if I have the eraser disabled and no matter what settings I play with. It will not recognize pressure from the tablet.
Any Ideas on what I am doing wrong, or is this a software problem?

which version of Inkscape are you using? 0.48.3 and 0.48.1 (and 0.47 before that) have good support IMO for wacom tablet users.

Why don't you try upgrading to 0.48.3.1-2 and try using the tablet? You might also try deleting your user prefs before opening the new install so as to have it generate a nice new clean prefs file, just in case.
if you don't want to upgrade, try opening Inkscape WITH the pen rather than with the mouse and then switching to the pen after it's open. I kinda remember this being a solution for 48.1

Hi,

I'm using the same tablet and Inkscape 0.48.2 r9819.

The tablet works, but I'm unable to use the "pressure".
Is this problem resolved already?

Thank you.

and this?
AFAICT 0.48.3 and up have good pressure support. Deleting the prefs file really does help when upgrading in terms of pressure support. You might also try turning off the ruler display, although that addresses a different problem with tablets in my experience.

Thanks (again)!

Deleted al prefs when uninstalling the previous installed version.
I installed the latest version 0.48.4.
Then just had to activate the pressure checkbox and wow.....it works.
