[solved] My exported PNG images are slightly transparent

Postby Jays07 » Tue Mar 29, 2016 11:02 am

I'm using Inkscape to make graphics for an iOS game I'm developing. Various things that overlap, like menus and buttons, are slightly see-through in my game. This is strange because they look solid within Inkscape when I drag them over other images. I'm exporting them as PNG using the export area: selection tab. My document page's background color is: RGB ffffff00 so that I don't have white areas around my PNG images.

To give you a color example, I used the dropper cursor and placed it over one of my menu's fill color. It reads as: #ffd100 alpha 0.871 under cursor. Shouldn't the alpha be 1? I don't understand why it isn't, because when I select my menu and look at its fill and stroke information, under the wheel tab, its opacity is set to 100% and the alpha slider is maxed at 255.

I'd greatly appreciate some help with getting my images to have no transparency. Thank you!

I can't answer why the Dropper tool gives that display. I've never completely understood how it works, regarding transparency. I only use without transparency. I guess you could try switching the option in the control bar.

But the info shown in the Fill and Stroke dialog, or the style indicator (bottom-left corner) for selected objects can absolutely be trusted. If it says they aren't transparent, then they aren't.

Oohh....unless you have a layer with reduced transparency?

Edit
Yeah, I'll bet that's it. I use the Dropper tool with both options on the control bar disabled, which apparently ignore transparency. But if I enable both options, I do see the alpha info, even though the F/S dialog says it's fully opaque.

Thanks so much, that's what was causing it! I only have 1 layer, but at some point I must have changed its opacity to 87% for some reason. Don't even remember doing it.
