I have some layers blended in inkscape. I want to use the graphic in a pdflatex document, so I believe the only vector graphic format is pdf. However when I save as a pdf from inkscape, the does not save the blending! as an example, i've been using this
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:AdditiveColor.svg
So i make a red green and blue circle, turn the blending to "lighten", and i produce exactly that graphic. When i export to pdf, i just see overlapped red, green and blue circles with no yellow white or magenta in the overlap!
Can someone tell me how to do this?
Thanks
Dave

Each colour you see in that example will need to be created as a seperate shape and set the colour from the swatch. Basically you need to create what you see without any tricks.

Really? It seems totally ridiculous that I have to save nice vector graphics as png before I can use them??
Any other thoughts?

I'm not sure if the limitation is in the version of PDF that's created or if the convertor isn't designed to convert blends to the PDF equivalent. But like I said, you can create that image without blends and therefore keep have it as a PDF vector. There are a few things you can do in Inkscape that will not convert to PDF, but in most cases you can avoid them if you make the effort.
Keep in mind that SVG is a web standard, not a print standard--it's designed for viewing in a web browser. It's only through volunteer developers that we can convert it to a PDF at all.
