I was actually trying to draw a light bulb, but got sidetracked. I don't like the stars for some reason but I do like the moon!

Very nice. Great idea. I think if you threw in some colour it could be quite striking. I'm not sure if you hand created/positioned the stars, but one of the colourings I've done I drew a detailed star then use the tile clone feature to create a starfield of randomly positioned and sized stars.

yes the stars would look a lot better if they were really star-shaped (with spokes) instead of blurred circle.

Make one star and then, as microUgly said use Create Tiled Clones function to fill the entire sky. Use drastic numbers for shifting with randomness, and randomize the size too.

Then change some to color blue, and some to red (leave the most white) and it should look very realistic.

You never know where you may end up eh? from a lightbulb to the moon!

Inspired by yours, I came up with mine in half an hour.

This is stunning, Bwansy. I agree that DannyKings work was very inspiring, and I also wanted to create my own version. I would have attempted to create it exactly like yours, with the irregular glow and subtle blue tones - exactly what I had in mind. But you did such a good job I couldn't be bothered now

I think DannyKings original was an awesome idea (I wish I had ideas like that) and I still really like it as it comes across as more of an old historical B&W photo.

@microUgly Go on... try it! I must admit that when I just looked at bwansy's beautiful image I felt like that too! But I think I'll keep trying

@Bwansy Wow, that's really great - fantastic work! Your stars are perfect! I particularly like the flares of light on the eclipse. Thanks for sharing! I was trying to achieve that exact look for the stars in my second attempt (I went more abstract this time with a rainbow coloured comet). Could you explain the steps you did to make those stars?

Talk about being geek-ish! I drew my comet according to a picture in a book I read when I was small. It has a curved gas trail (yellow) and a blue, straight ion trail. However, I don't remember its name.
